Crushing The Anti-Argument

READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE by PAUL MARKEL

"Smashing the gun control (human control) argument is so easy that even a Columbia journalism major could do it, if they some how possessed the courage to try. What follows is a simple three-step process addressing the argument for civilian disarmament. All so-called "gun control" regulations exempt the government, or more aptly, employees of the state."

"Gun control laws also by definition exempt criminals and those with criminal intent. A criminal is a person prone to or engaged in "unlawful activity".  Therefore, Malum Prohibitum laws concerning firearms will not prevent a criminal from possessing or using a gun in the commission of a crime. A violation of an existing Malum Prohibitum statute is merely an additional charge to add to the charges of Murder, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, etc.

If the stated purpose of the gun control law is to "save lives" we can clearly see that criminal behavior will not be affected as they have already made a conscious decision to violate the law. To state that a creature, who is willing to violate Malum In Se through the act of murder, robbery, rape, etc., will be dissuaded from using a firearm during the aforementioned acts by a new Malum Prohibitum statute is the height of childish naiveté and blind, emotionally driven foolishness.

Considering the previous facts, supposed gun control laws have only one true legitimate target; the civilian. Only law-abiding citizens are genuinely effected by further restrictions. Ergo, gun control is tantamount civilian or citizen disarmament, it cannot and does not affect anyone else."

Self-reliant? Americans now depend on the hive for almost everything. The faucet leaks? Call the plumber. The car makes funny noises? Go to a mechanic. Someone is sneaking around your house at night? Call a cop. A porch light stops working? Call the electrician. You saw a mouse? Call a psychiatrist. Self-defense? Dear God, no. Too macho.

The United States has become a nation of weak, pampered, easily frightened, helpless milquetoasts who have never caught a fish, fired a gun, chopped a log, hitchhiked across the country, or been in a schoolyard fight. If their cat dies, they call a grief therapist. Everything frightens Americans.

NYPD Cop Killer Proves We Have a Thug Culture Problem, Not A Gun Problem!!!!

NYPD Officer Randolph Holder was killed in the line of duty earlier this week, and the life story of the career criminal who murdered him was all too predictable.

The police had gone looking for Tyrone Howard at least 10 times since Sept. 1, when, investigators believe, he rode up to a rival just after midnight and shot him. But 10 times he eluded them.

When officers finally did encounter Mr. Howard on Tuesday night, fleeing from the scene of another shooting in the same Upper Manhattan housing project, he was armed, the police said.

He was riding a stolen bike and concealing a .40-caliber handgun, the police said. As two plainclothes officers approached, he wheeled around, dropped the bike and fired one shot into the forehead of one of the officers, Randolph Holder, the police said.

“It was quick,” a senior police official said. “He swung around, on the bike path; he was on the bike and he just jumped off and ‘Boom.’ Quick. No words.”

What we have is a thug culture problem.

“Gun violence” is a myth.

National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS)

The September 2015 NSSF-adjusted National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) figure of 1,071,945 is the highest September on record for the 17-year-old system, with an increase of 4.7 percent compared to the September 2014 NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 1,024,272.

For comparison, the unadjusted September 2015 NICS figure of 1,786,743 reflects a 23.4 percent increase from the unadjusted NICS figure 1,447,485 in September 2014.

Though not a direct correlation to firearms sales, the NSSF-adjusted NICS data provide a more accurate picture of current market conditions. In addition to other purposes, NICS is used to check transactions of firearms sales and transfers on new and used handguns and long guns.

They talk about loophole in regards to firearms! WHAT ABOUT THIS??? The Illegal Alien Licensing Loophole

The interesting loophole in all of this is another initiative of the same “progressive” activists in our society: the issuance of driver’s licenses to illegal aliens.

A dozen states currently offer licenses regardless of immigration status, and of course the proponents of this idea object to any suggestion that these driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants include any indication that the holder is not a fully vested citizen with all the rights and privileges of citizenship. They say that providing a license that is any different than a normal driver’s license would be an invasion of the person’s privacy and an invitation for discrimination.

Considering that the driver’s license is the predominant form of ID used for most purposes, including voting and in firearm purchases, and is usually the only form of ID used, this means that, not only is this practice potentially enabling voter fraud, but it also invites people who are prohibited by law from purchasing or possessing firearms an easy means of buying them through legal channels.

Associated Press headline - is a lie.

Associated Press headline falsely claims Ohio colleges have choice when it comes to security!

An Associated Press article headlined
"Ohio leaves response plans for campus shooters to colleges" hit the wires on Saturday and has been published probably hundreds of times across the country and the Internet.

Ohio law specifically prohibits campuses, whether public or private, from enacting a safety plan that involves arming staffers or students. In fact, colleges and universities in Ohio don't even enjoy the same choices that our primary and secondary schools do. While local boards of education have the right to chose to authorize any person who can legally possess a concealed firearm to carry it in the school, Ohio colleges and universities have no such right to choose. They are specifically and totally forbidden this right to "opt-in" - to allow concealed carry on campus.

Islam taught in Public Schools? OR Separation of church and state?

Islam taught in Public Schools?
OR
Separation of church and state?

Last month, for example, parents in the Nashville suburb of in Spring Hill expressed alarm because their children in a taxpayer-funded middle school are learning about the Five Pillars of Islam in a world history class. (The first and most important pillar is roughly translated as: “There is no god but God. Muhammad is the messenger of God.”)

At the same time, the parents say, the course material pointedly ignores Christianity.

Should any religion should be taught in any school?

The children are in school to learn the basics of the 3 R's.
If you want your child to learn about religion send them to
a religious school.

If a young adult of college age wants to learn about comparative religions, let him or her choose that elective. For religion courses to infiltrate our secondary education system, which is taxpayer funded and compulsory in this country, is morally and ethically wrong.

Civics (the study of the rights and duties of citizenship), do we not want our young people to know how our Constitutional Republic is supposed to work?

GUN FREE - NOPE

Places that advertise “gun free” and don’t have clear signs of surveillance are at heavy risk. Most of the mass shootings and active shooters that make the news attack vulnerable or soft targets. The easiest way to plan for an active shooter is to make your location difficult to hit. That doesn’t mean you need to sandbag the walls and get a gunner up in the turret of your Humvee. It just means making it visually clear that if someone decides to commit violence – he or she will be met with fierce resistance.

Alcohol or Guns

The both are causing deaths - what to do??

From the Washington Post

"Every day, about 30 people are killed in the U.S. in gun homicides or gun accidents (not counting gun suicides or self-inflicted accidental shootings). And every day, likely about 30 people are killed in homicides where the killer was under the influence of alcohol, plus alcohol-related drunk driving accidents and alcohol-related accidents where the driver wasn’t drunk but the alcohol was likely a factor (again not including those who died in accidents caused by their own alcohol consumption). If you added in gun suicides on one side and those people whose alcohol consumption killed themselves on the other, the deaths would tilt much more on the side of alcohol use, but I generally like to segregate deaths of the user from deaths of others.

So what are we going to do about it? When are we going to ban alcohol? When are we going to institute more common-sense alcohol-control measures?"

Five reasons that the benefits that flow from guns far outweigh the risks inherent in guns

Why the change by this person?

"my reversal on guns came about because I realized that gun’s are a predicate requirement for individual freedom and security.  I’ve created five principles that justify this conclusion.  These principles are:  (1) Armed citizens are the best defense against the world’s most dangerous killer: government; (2) I am a Jew; (3) I am not a racist; (4) a self-defended society is a safe society; and (5) the only way gun-control activists can support their position is to lie.

I develop each of these principles below."

Response to the President

On October 1, 2015, the nation witnessed another tragic shooting -- this one at the Umpqua Community College in Oregon.

The President shortly took to a national platform to address the killings.

This should have been an opportunity for the President to unite a grieving nation. But instead, he chose to foment division. He even bragged that it was right for him to politicize this tragedy.

Hope Doesn’t Save Lives...

Thank you to Tim Schmidt - a very good article from an email he sent out.

Hope Doesn’t Save Lives...
BY TIM SCHMIDT - USCCA FOUNDER

At the time of this writing, details are still unclear, but preliminary reports indicate that up to 10 people are dead and some 15 more are injured after an active shooter situation at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon Thursday morning.

Once again, precious human lives have been victimized by circumstances beyond their control.

According to Ammoland, the community college, located about 180 miles south of Portland, is a posted gun-free zone. Their security page states that:“Possession, use, or threatened use of firearms (including but not limited to BB guns, air guns, water pistols, and paint guns), ammunition, explosives, dangerous chemicals, or any other objects as weapons on college property, except as expressly authorized by law or college regulations, is prohibited.”

And once again, I feel absolutely sick to my stomach.

I want to know:

When will we be allowed to defend our most precious resources?

During a time that is both exciting and scary for these students—where some still skirt that fine line between the innocence of childhood and the uncertainty of what comes next—let me be clear: we have failed them.

It’s crazy that in this country, we have armed guards in armored cars protecting money, and yet we send our kids to school with nothing but “hope.” Hope that the unthinkable never happens. Hope that our teachers will be able to get them out of harm’s way until help arrives.

But hope doesn’t save lives.

What does save lives?

Guns in the hands of good guys.

Students and teachers—from elementary schools all the way up to colleges—are taught to “lock down,” to wait for help to arrive. It’s ironic in a way, because it fights our natural and instinctual fight-or-flight response. Essentially, our children aren’t allowed to do either. They just have to sit quietly and wait. That’s their “best-case” scenario. I’m sorry, but that’s not good enough for me—or for our kids.

Now, I realize that not every teacher out there would be willing to carry a gun. Arming oneself takes a lot of courage—and it’s a huge responsibility. A life-changing one, in fact. But if there are some teachers out there who are willing to make that commitment, to accept the call to be responsible armed Americans, imagine how the equation would change. Their only option would no longer be barricading their doors and shutting off the lights and waiting. No...they’d be able to fight back. I think our children deserve at least that much. It sounds harsh, and it is, but what they don’t deserve is to sit around and wait to die.

And so I ask again:

When will we be allowed to defend our most precious resources?

In what world does it make sense that we have armed guards in armored cars protecting money (which, by the way, liberals claim "isn't worth dying over"), but we have absolutely nothing in schools protecting our children?

In fact, it’s not even that we don’t have it...it’s that we don’t allow it.

But don’t our most precious resources deserve that? Don’t they deserve somebody to stand up for them? And when they get old enough, don’t they deserve to choose whether or not to accept that responsibility for themselves?

It’s time we stopped allowing our legislators to decide how much human lives—especially our children’s—are worth. The answer is simple. They’re worth everything.

Tim Schmidt
