The Changing Face of Shooting Sports and How You Can Help

According to a recent study done by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), "the landscape of target shooters has shifted." With 20% of current shooters having taken up the sport in just the last five years, a new generation has emerged with a completely different demographic profile. The study compares established shooters (more than five years of experience) with new shooters and shows that this new wave of shooting enthusiasts is often younger, female, and urban. Here's a breakdown of the numbers: Younger: 66 percent of new shooters fall into the 18-to-34-year-old category compared to 31 percent in the same age category for established shooters. Female: 37 percent of new target shooters are female compared to 22 percent of established target shooters. Urban: 47 percent of new target shooters live in urban/suburban settings versus 34 percent of established target shooters.

How You Can Help

In response to the industry's shifting demographics, Action Target has created a survey to better understand the preferences of women when it comes to shooting range equipment, technology, and amenities. Take the survey here. http://survey.constantcontact.com/survey/a07e87an8jlhlpe267u/a0174hmxft2xp/questions Survey participants who qualify will receive a one-time use 20% discount to Action Target's online store. I wonder

I wonder how people can be willing to give up their rights. They do not understand that if they give them up one at a time; then they will eventually lose them all.

Everyone one wants to remain unpolitical; but life is political. You make decisions everyday that affect others. Everyone wants the freedom of the first amendment; but try to use that to support another amendment and people state it is too political to have that associate with them or their organization.

I wonder????!!!

Heizer Defense Files Lawsuit In Federal Court Against Doubletap Defense

In a continued effort to protect their product development and engineering efforts, Heizer Defense, LLC has filed a complaint in the United States District Court for ten counts. This includes declaration of inventorship and transfer of rights for patent No 8,495,831 and for the declaration of invalidity and unenforceability, or alternatively correction of inventorship and transfer of rights for design patent No. D686,685. We would expect the lawsuit to establish, among other things, that Charles Heizer, Founder of Heizer Aerospace, is an inventor for this patent. The defendants of the complaint are Doubletap Defense LLC, f/k/a Heizer Technologies, LLC; Central Holding Corp.; Raymond Kohout, and Marvin Dufner. The parties have agreed to mediation that is scheduled to take place in November. - See more at: http://www.thetacticalwire.com/story/301341#sthash.yNDaIEx7.dpuf

Senator Moran Circulates Letter to Repudiate the UN Small Arms Treaty

“[GOA’s Larry] Pratt also contends that the U.N. has a terrible track record in protecting human life. He said the horrors in Rwanda are a perfect example of why the U.N. has no business deciding who should and should not have access to guns.” -- WorldNetDaily, June 2013

When you’re dealing with an adversary who hates the 2nd Amendment as much as Barack Obama, you have to fight attacks coming from several different directions.

We know we’ve thrown a lot at you lately. But there’s one other issue we’d like to bring to your attention.

As you know, the Obama administration recently signed the virulently anti-gun UN Arms Trade Treaty (ATT).

Although purporting to regulate international trade in arms, the treaty empowers anti-gun administrations (such as Barack Obama’s) to institute internal gun control, including gun bans, gun registration, and more.  In fact, the drafters of the treaty made no secret of their goal of imposing measures such as microstamping on countries like the United States.

GOA’s legislative counsel has done a word-by-word analysis of the treaty.  If left unchecked, the treaty language will give rise a wide ranging series of gun control restrictions, as mentioned above.

ATF e-Forms System Going Dark for the Duration

Federal shutdown. This service will remain offline during the duration of the shutdown. As we reported Monday: The FBI's NICS Section is maintaining normal business hours. The ATF Office of Enforcement Programs and Services (EPS), which includes the imports, firearms technology, NFA branches, the licensing center and firearms industry programs branch now processing marking variances, is effectively shut down, operating with minimal staff. The State Department's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) is accepting licenses, but only acting on them in genuine emergency situations. The Commerce Department Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) is no longer accepting export license applications, classification requests (CCATS), encryption reviews, encryption registrations or advisory opinion requests. Similarly, BIS will not be issuing any final determinations. All pending export license applications, commodity classification requests, encryption reviews, encryption registrations and advisory opinion requests will be held without action by BIS until the shutdown ends. NSSF will continue to update the industry as additional details on the government shutdown become available. - See more at: http://www.thetacticalwire.com/story/301291#sthash.p19tet5J.dpuf

Taurus Model 738 TCP – .380 Concealed Carry – Reviews from Women

There are a lot of guns in the market that gun nuts take for granted. They are basically good guns that have been around for a long time and sell a ton, yet they are really nothing special. But with all of the new shooters coming into the market, particularly women shooters, some old and extremely average guns are developing a dedicated following because they work, they fit great, and they are not expensive. Never one for big headlines, the Taurus TCP, also known as the Model 738, is a 10.2 ounce .380 6+1 that is carried by thousands of people every day, yet you rarely if ever see an interesting review or article on the gun. It is the lightest Taurus ever made, and since the arrival at Taurus of Mark Kresser and a new focus on consistency and quality control, the Taurus TCP deserves a fresh look. We asked our resident girl guru Carrie Lightfoot from The Well Armed Womanto take the gun for a spell, and have her whole crew shoot it and let us know what they think. Overall the gun did really well in the eyes of these very critical ladies, and they felt that the TCP was designed to be “just right” for the woman shooter.

DoubleTap Defense .45ACP Pocket Derringer – New Gun Review

The DoubleTap Tactical Pocket Pistol is an over/under break action derringer capable of delivering two rounds of 9 mm or .45ACP as fast as you can pull the trigger. It is sold as a simple and rugged option for deep concealment or backup. Make no mistake, this is not a range gun or plinker. It’s designed for one purpose and one purpose only – saving your life.

The .45ACP is no kitten when it comes to recoil, and even though your followup shots are limited to one in the two shot pistol, an “ouch that hurts” after the first shot wouldn’t be the ideal in a concealed carry pistol. There are a lot of perfectly good pocket pistols on the market, and this gun has several red flags, as well as some outright user discomfort. At an MSRP starting at $499 for a two shot derringer, do we really need the DoubleTap?
