Winchester Issues Recall for 5.56 Ammo
Winchester Issues Recall for 5.56 Ammo
from: http://www.shootingwire.com/story/279854
Amid a national ammo shortage this is probably the last thing you want to hear. Winchester has issued a recall for some of their 5.56mm centerfire rifle ammo.
The company stated in the recall notice that after an extensive evaluation they found that a single lot of Winchester 5.56mm M855 62 Grain Pene (penetrator) ammunition may contain incorrect propellant, an issue that if used may cause damage to the firearm or render it inoperable, or may cause injury to the shooter or bystanders.
The 5.56mm M855 is an economical brand that features a steel core and a green penetrating tip. Online it typically costs $10.
The company asks that you do not use the 5.56 ammo from boxes marked with the symbol number "ZGQ3308″ and the lot number "WCC10M106-004″. Both identifying numbers are stamped on outside of the 900-round shipping container, and on the outside of the 30-round box.
Winchester asks that if you do have a box of defective ammo to immediately discontinue using it and contact the company to exchange it at no cost to the consumer. You can contact Winchester at 866-423-5224 and they'll arrange for free UPS pick-up. As soon as the company receives the package, a replacement box will be shipped out.
Ruger steps up and keeps "Ruger Rimfire Series" going for 2013
from: http://www.shootingwire.com/story/279865
Below is the official Ruger Firearms announcement regarding the continued management and administration of the Ruger Rimfire Series. Please post as soon as possible.
"As many of you are aware NSSF has decided not to assume control of the Ruger Rimfire program at this time due to new priorities in response to recent events. During a phone call with NSSF and Ruger staffs it was determined that Ruger would continue to oversee the program for the time being. Some Ruger staff previously involved in running the program has been reassigned to duties within the company in this very busy period all manufacturers in our industry are experiencing. NSSF has offered to assist with manpower by providing the services of Tim Norris with whom they have been working in anticipation of the transition of the rimfire program. I will be working closely with Tim to provide continuity for 2013
Ruger will continue to offer product for the prize tables of the sanctioned matches in 2013. I am sure that many of the past sponsors will also continue to be involved and support the rimfire program to the extent they are able.
I do anticipate that matches approved and sanctioned by NSSF for 2013 will go forward as planned. As new applications are received they will be reviewed and acted upon as quickly as possible. Our goal is to keep the program moving and growing with the assistance provided by NSSF and with the intention of transferring the program to them by 2014.
Contact Tim at rimfiresteel@gmail.com or his cell (661) 510-9379 if you have questions about hosting a Ruger Rimfire match.

SEAL and "American Sniper"
Last weekend's murders of former SEAL and "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield have shaken the special forces community- and the shooting world.
from: http://www.thetacticalwire.com/features/227044
As a community, we are diminished by the loss of both men, but our loss is nothing like the losses to their families. Plenty of people, including our readers, have asked: is there anything we can do to help?
I'm glad to tell you that there is.

The guys at www.tacticaltshirts.com have created a memorial shirt for Chris and Chad and designated the profits from each ($10/per shirt) to a pair of trusts established for the Kyle and Littlefield families.
The Chris Kyle Memorial Trust is being administered by Chris Kirkpatrick, attorney for the Kyle family and Craft International, LLC, the training company Kyle founded.
Flypaper Laws - Interesting Reading

The Nathan Haddad case in New York State is a perfect example of what the Obama administration wants for America:
Nathan Haddad, a decorated combat veteran, was arrested earlier this month in New York for possessing unloaded 30-round magazines. Mr. Haddad, who has been recognized by the Army for his selfless acts of generosity to fellow soldiers, was charged with five felony counts of possession of “high-capacity” magazines.
Think about that...technically, he could face up to 35 years in prison, more than twice as much as a murderer.
Now compare this to David Gregory-gate, where the NBC star "journalist" — and I certainly use that word reservedly — clearly possessed a standard capacity AR magazine, illegal to possess in D.C., in front of millions of witnesses and got a free pass. Consider the wording of the D.C. Attorney General's ruling:
OAG has made this determination, despite the clarity of the violation of this important law, because under all of the circumstances here a prosecution would not promote public safety in the District of Columbia nor serve the best interests of the people of the District to whom this office owes its trust.
What do these 2 actions tell us?

Who Is This Secretary of Need?
Between The Berms: Who Is This Secretary of Need?
from: http://www.shootingwire.com/features/227037
I know who the Sec. of State is. I know who the Sec. of Defense nominee is. I know, off the top of my head, most but not all of the other members of the President's Cabinet.
But I am unfamiliar with this Secretary of Need, and frankly I am unsure about the Department of Need he - or she - heads up.
But there most certainly must be one because all I hear on television are officials in the U.S. Government outlining what U.S. citizens don't need.
For instance, I understand that we don't need a "military-style assault rifle". We don't need clips OR magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. Or is it 7 rounds? I'm sure they'll let us know the final number of rounds we need.

Convicted rapist organizes gun control demonstration at Dayton gun show; Media fails to note his sex offender status!!!!!!!
WHAT ??????????? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
from: http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/node/8759
This past weekend, a small group of perhaps a dozen protesters gathered outside Dayton's Hara Arena to protest the sale of modern sporting rifles at Bill Goodman's Gun and Knife Show.
From the article:
"We know that guns are being sold on the floor inside Hara Arena illegally" said Jerome McCorry. "No background checks no identification of any kind."
McCorry said "AK-47s and M16s are not gonna be used for hunting, they're not going to be used to protect anybody. These are the weapons that are coming back and being used in mass murders and mass killings."
A simple Google search for Jerome McCorry reveals that the man trying to tell the public what weapons they should be allowed to own is a convicted felon.
From the Attorney General's ICrimeWatch.net:
JEROME NMN McCORRY
Aliases: Jerome Jordan
Offenses
• Description: 2907.02 - Rape
• Date Convicted:
• Conviction State: Ohio
• Date Released:
• Details: (Pre AWA) Sexually Oriented Offender
As can be seen in the WHIO-TV video, Anti-Gun-Protestor Jerome McCorry is wearing a jacket and identified in the on-screen graphic as the President of The Adam Project. The Adam Project's website lists its address as - the same address as Rapist-and-Convicted-Felon Jerome McCorry.
Not one of the articles by WHIO-TV or The Dayton Daily News mentions McCorry's status as a convicted rapist who is on the sex offender registry.
Hmmmm........Can anyone think of a reason why this man doesn't want law-abiding citizens to have the ability to defend themselves with firearms?
