MADE IN AMERICA:

MADE IN AMERICA: SEE THE 10 COOLEST WEAPONS FOUND ONLY IN UNCLE SAM’S ARSENAL

Business Insider has put together an awesome slideshow of 10 of the most lethal, innovative war fighting tools that are exclusive to the the U.S. military.
Here’s a sample of our favorites from the slideshow:
1) XM25 Individual Airburst Weapon System (IAWS)
Many of you may recall the Blaze’s earlier coverage of this weapon, fondly referred to as “The Punisher.” This air-burst grenade launcher fires a 25mm projectile using a remarkable laser-finder targeting system to explode above– or behind– a pre-programmed target. The grenade detonates after a set number of aerial rotations, and is capable of hitting a target at 500 meters.
Basically, you can set this thing to blow up right above a foxhole, or right behind some sandbags. It brings an anti-personnel capability to our soldiers in Afghanistan that helps erase the advantages of terrain in an ambush scenario. It also has door-breaching and non-lethal capabilities when used with different rounds.
2) The Taser Shockwave
While it looks like an array of miniature green stadium lights, the Taser shockwave uses its juice to shut a crowd down. It can send out a jolt of electricity up to 25 feet away that will shock a mob into submission. You can also patch them together, sort of like Legos, to create an ever bigger electric pulse — and take the fight out of any angry rabble.
3) PHASR Rifle
It looks like a Star Wars laser gun, but the PHASR rifle uses a pretty straightforward concept: think of a flashlight in someone’s eyes, only much more powerful. It’s a hand-held version of what the military calls a ‘dazzler,’ which has been used at military checkpoints to deter civilians from entering restricted areas.
4)  XM2010 Enhanced Sniper Rifle
Basically a souped- up version of the old M24 sniper rifle, the XM2010 gives an additional 50% maximum effective range, and fires a .300 Magnum round instead of the standard 7.62. The extra range should come in handy for U.S. forces squaring off against Taliban fighters at long distances across the treacherous Afghan terrain.
To see the rest of these amazing weapons of war, check out the full slideshow at Business Insider.

Ohio and Louisiana Agree to Right-to-Carry Permit Reciprocity

Yesterday (Sept 8, 2011), Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced an agreement with Louisiana State Police Colonel Mike Edmonson allowing Right-to-Carry reciprocity between their two states.

Ohio will now recognize valid Right-to-Carry permits from Louisiana and in turn, Louisiana will recognize valid permits from Ohio.

Permit holders must comply with the laws that apply in whichever state they are traveling.

Ohio now has Right-to-Carry reciprocity with twenty-one other states.

The NRA would like to thank Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, Governor Bobby Jindal and Louisiana State Police Colonel Mike Edmonson for assisting us with this effort.

Man Shoots Handgun and Reloads with Feet:

If you didn't have arms, do you think you'd still hunt and shoot? You're probably thinking to yourself, Is it even possible? Well, every now and then we're shown that almost anything is possible if you put your mind to it, and Michael Strong (aka Big Toe) is today's shining example.

Big Toe (his cronies gave him that nickname back in the CB radio days) was born without arms, but that didn't stop him from pursuing his passions.

Hottie with a Hidden Handgun

In honor of the 19th Amendment (giving women the right to vote) as well as the Second Amendment (right to bear arms), we "Inside Track" editors are exercising our First Amendment right (free speech) by saying we approve of women voting, women bearing arms, and women concealing those arms (legally of course) in any manner in which they see fit.

Speaking of "fit," the woman shown here is modeling UnderTech's UnderCover Woman's Compression Shorts, which feature two identical holsters, one on each side, so if a woman is right-handed she can carry a handgun on her right side, and vice versa.

Want video proof these shorts work? Check out this clip from a recent dealer-only firearms show with this UnderTech model dressed to kill.

These "made-in-the-USA" shorts are extremely popular with female federal agents, undercover officers and parole officers.

WEEKEND SHOOTINGS IN NY CITY PROVE BLOOMBERG’S GUN CONTROL FAILURE!!!

from: Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms

BELLEVUE, WA – At least 46 people were shot in New York City over the Labor Day weekend, prompting the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to ask Mayor Michael Bloomberg how this could happen in a city with some of the toughest gun laws in the nation; laws that he would spread across the county.

“Mayor Bloomberg has advocated New York-style gun control for everyone, everywhere,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “This included a 24-hour period from Saturday morning to Sunday morning during which 24 people were shot. That’s a pitiful demonstration of the abject failure of Bloomberg’s anti-gun policies.

“We will probably see Mayor Bloomberg adopt the ‘Obama protocol,’ blaming someone else, or the gun laws in other states, when the sad truth is that New York gun control laws have failed consistently,” he continued. “After this weekend, Bloomberg is going to have a hard time pandering his gun control agenda.”

According to the New York Post, the Labor Day weekend saw an “epidemic of shootings” including one that occurred not far from where he was marching in the West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn.

“Michael Bloomberg’s blood-spattered anti-gun agenda is not simply wrong for New York,” Gottlieb observed, “it is wrong for the country. No better evidence of that can be found in the Big Apple’s Labor Day weekend shooting statistics. Maybe it’s time for members of Bloomberg’s ‘Mayors Against Illegal Guns’ to wonder just where his philosophy might take their cities, if they continue listening to his siren’s song of restrictive gun control.

“New York’s mayor is the Pied Piper of Prohibition,” Gottlieb stated. “Nearly four dozen shootings over a three-day weekend is proof positive that Bloomberg’s tune is seriously off-key. It is time for Mayor Bloomberg and other gun control extremists to admit that their strategies have failed. He has been running around the country blaming gun laws in other states for his city’s crime problems, but it is the laws of his own jurisdiction that have failed miserably, and he knows it.”

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States. The Citizens Committee can be reached by phone at (425) 454-4911, on the Internet at www.ccrkba.org or by email toInformationRequest@ccrkba.org.

Another reason for CCW or Open Carry in Ohio!

News update for Ohio CCW and Open Carry: one more reason to have a firearm!!!

Ohio sells state prison to private contractor for $73 million.

Ohio said on Thursday it had gone through with a controversial plan to privatize a portion of the state’s prison system, the latest step in Republican Governor John Kasich’s campaign to shrink government and close the state’s budget shortfall.

Officials said the state had sold the Lake Erie Correctional Institution, an 11-year-old prison housing about 1,500 nonviolent prisoners, to the Corrections Corporation of America for $72.7 million. The state will now pay the Nashville-based company to run the facility.

The privatization of parts of Ohio’s prison system was one of the deficit-closing provisions contained in the budget Kasich signed into law earlier in June.

In all, Ohio hoped to sell five prisons, and raise as much as $200 million, in the privatization process. But the bids on the other four facilities fell short of the state’s hopes and they will remain in government hands for now.

What to do if you are involved in a shooting? At least here in Ohio!

from: Buckeye Firearms Association & Ken Hanson:

This week, Buckeye Firearms received a question asking 1.) how to find a self-defense attorney, and 2.) what to do in the aftermath of a shooting.

My book, the Ohio Guide to Firearm Laws, is now out in a Fourth Edition. Something I have been writing about for years, in the past and current editions, is the importance of the legal aftermath of a shooting. The first, last and only words you utter to the police should be "I can not talk to you until I have spoken with my attorney."

This is important enough that in the current edition of my book, I break it down into a checklist. Here is what I write in the narrative portion of my current edition:

If a gun owner becomes involved in a shooting, there are several important things to understand.

First, in the majority of cases, the shooter is going to be arrested and the case presented to the county grand jury. The average gun owner is a law-abiding member of society, has not been through the process of being charged with a crime, and will probably consider the following information to be offensive: If the gun owner is involved in a shooting, the first, last and only words to the police should be, "I cannot talk to you until I have consulted with my attorney." This statement is not obstructionist, does not imply guilt, and does not make the gun owner anti-law enforcement. Just keep in mind that it is not the job of the police or prosecutor to "clear" the gun owner. While the police and prosecutor do have an underlying duty to do justice, keep in mind that the first job of law enforcement is to document and prosecute crimes. They are under no duty to help you establish your claims of self-defense. Ask any person thoroughly involved with hands-on criminal justice, and he/she will tell you that the majority of criminal cases depend on statements from the accused to obtain a conviction.

A self-defense encounter is going to trigger psychological and physiological reactions. Your heart rate is going to skyrocket (one of my clients had a pulse in the 130s three days post- shooting.) Your sense of time and hearing are going to be distorted. You might have suffered from tunnel vision and not seen things that are obvious after-the-fact. You might be experiencing unavoidable excitement and elation as a result of surviving the encounter, and this would look damning to bystanders. I cannot stress this enough – you are not in a physical condition that makes you competent to give a statement post-shooting. Any mistake now is going to be magnified hundreds of times over 6 months down the road. Keep Your Mouth Shut until your attorney has a chance to visit with you. If the police are trying to bait you with "well if you have nothing to hide you'd talk to us...give me a break guy, this is clearly self defense, just give me the statement so I can wrap up my paperwork and release you etc," Keep Your Mouth Shut. If police interaction continues despite your request for an attorney, you should ask for medical treatment because you aren't feeling right (breathing fast, heart racing, distracted, can't concentrate etc).

Keeping your mouth shut might mean you spend a night or a weekend in jail. That is a small price to pay. Make sure your family, who is not being arrested, knows to keep their mouths shut until they talk to an attorney. Any inconsistency between what they say and what you say later is going to be magnified and harped upon. If you are in jail, do not discuss the situation with your cellmates, who are likely going to sell you out with inaccurate information, hoping that in return the prosecution helps him/her out. Keep Your Mouth Shut.

The Ohio Guide to Firearm Laws is in a new, Fourth Edition, and can be purchased through the Buckeye Firearms Bookstore or via www.ohiogunlawguide.com.

2012 GOP's outlook from a Gun Rights Perspective

from: Buckey Firearms Association - Chad D. Baus

In 2008, there was much discussion about gun rights during the Republican Presidential primaries. Although there were a number of Republican candidates who had a strong pro-Second Amendment record, the party eventually settled on a candidate with an extremely spotty record on the Second Amendment (as well as other issues important to the conservative base).

The end result was that very little excitement could be found among the grassroots gun rights movement, which had been credited just two elections before of having tipped the vote in favor of then-Texas Governor George W. Bush (R) over then-Vice President Albert Gore Jr. (D). (In 2000, gun owners made up 38 percent of the total vote in New Mexico, 33 percent of the total in Florida and 27 percent of the total in Ohio)

Coupled with a media willing to cover for the extreme anti-gun record of the Democrats' candidate, Barack Obama, and a faux pro-gun group which had been set up by Democrats to provide cover (and which has since been dismantled), the stage was set for the election of the most anti-gun President in history.

Three years later, the Republican party is again faced with the prospect of choosing a candidate they believe can beat Obama at the ballot box. Unlike his last campaign, Obama's record of opposition to the Second Amendment rights of Americans can no longer be concealed. Since he was elected, Obama nominated proven gun ban extremists to his cabinent, attempted to stop the Department of Defense from selling once-fired military brass to reloaders, voiced support for a South American treaty as an end run around the Constitution, appointed two anti-gun Supreme Court Justices, blocked the import of highly collectible, historical military surplus firearms and slated them for destruction, and in a secret, closed door meeting with one of the nation's leading gun ban groups promised that he is working on even more gun control efforts "under the radar." More recently still, Obama's ATF has been exposed for having allowed the sale of more than 1300 guns to Mexican drug cartels, which have since been used in multiple murders, as part of the now infamous "Fast and Furious" scandal.

If ever there was a time for Republicans to take advantage of a motivated grassroots pro-gun voting block, it is now. But will the party chose wisely, or will they once again neuter the pro-gun vote?

To keep this exercise somewhat reasonable, I have confined my list to candidates that are in the top ten in the RealClearPolitics.com polling averages (as of 8/31).

Pro-Second Amendment Choices

Rick Perry, Governor of Texas - (24.2% RCP Average - 1st Place, 7.2% above 2nd)

Rick Perry is without question one of the most pro-gun candidates in the 2012 Republican primary. "We Texans like our guns," Perry writes in his book, Fed Up!, "We don't like meddlesome statists who want to infringe on our right to keep and bear them." Recently, Perry signed several pro-gun bills into law, including Senate Bill 321. The bill prohibits employers from enacting and enforcing bans on employees transporting and storing firearms in their locked, private motor vehicles while parked at work.

But Perry doesn't just talk the right way and support the right legisliation, he lives his support for the Second Amendment. Perry regularly carries a concealed handgun, and used the firearm to defend himself and the family pet from a coyote attack in 2010. His strong support for gun rights has even prompted the media to examine the question of whether or not he could legally carry a concealed handgun as President in anti-gun Washington D.C..

Sarah Palin, Former Governor of Alaska, Former Vice Presidential Candidate (10.6% RCP Average - 3rd Place)

Palin is still an undeclared candidate, but continues to poll strongly without any form of campaign machinery in place. Like Perry, Palin lives her support for the Second Amendment each and every day. Unlike Mitt Romney (see below), who only decided to join the NRA when it was time to run for President in 2008, Palin is a life-long NRA member. Palin's strong record of support for the Second Amendment, which is well-documented, helped her Presidential running-mate, John McCain, improve his image somewhat among gun owners in 2008. In the end, however, it proved not to be enough.

Michele Bachmann, U.S. Representative from Minnesota (9.3% RCP Average - 4th Place)

While serving in the Minnesota State Senate, Bachmann supported and helped pass the Minnesota Personal Protection Act and legislation to protect local shooting ranges. As a member of Congress, she has supported the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act, as well as the D.C. Personal Protection Act, which sought to repeal a ban on firearms in our nation's capital.

Chris Cox, the executive director of the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action, told attendees at the 2011 NRA Annual Meetings that Bachmann is "relentless, tough and a tremendous supporter of the right to keep and bear arms. When she was 12, she passed her first gun safety glass and started a lifetime of shooting. And she's still shooting — shooting down bad legislation and anti-freedom policies."

Ron Paul, U.S. Representative from Texas (7.8% RCP Average - 6th place)
As a member of Congress, Paul has sponsored a bill designed to prevent United Nations taxation on firearms (Right to Keep and Bear Arms Act), co-sponsored the Fairness in Firearm Testing Act, which would require the ATF to record video of every fiream test it conducts, and the D.C. Personal Protection Act, which sought to repeal a ban on firearms in our nation's capital. He has also supported the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which prohibiting baseless lawsuits against gun manufacturers, and numerous other pro-gun bills.

Newt Gingerich, Former Speaker of the House (5% RCP Average - 7th Place)

In 1995, Gingerich stated that "As long as I am Speaker of this House, no gun control legislation is going to move in committee or on the floor of this House and there will be no further erosion of their rights."

Chris Cox, the executive director of the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action, told attendees at the 2011 NRA Annual Meetings that Gingrich is a "strong supporter of the Second Amendment" in his introduction, and noted that he's a past recipient of the group's Defender of Freedom Award.

Rick Santorum, Former U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania (1.8% RCP Average - 9th place)

As a U.S Senator, Santorum voted in favor of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which prohibiting baseless lawsuits against gun manufacturers, and opposed mandating background checks between private individuals at gun shows.

At the 2001 NRA Annual Meetings, Chris Cox, the executive director of the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action, said Santorum – an NRA life member – was "an important ally of gun owners throughout his political career." During his 16 years in Congress, Cox said Santorum opposed gun and magazine bans and voted to end lawsuits against gun makers.
