FBI Won’t Call Islamic Terror Attack An “Islamic Terror Attack”

23-year-old  Samy Mohamed Hamzeh wanted to carry out a terrorist attack against a Masonic temple in Milwaukee, with the goal of the attack being described by Hamzeh as “defending Muslim religion.” He also hoped it would trigger copycat terrorist attacks by other Islamic terrorist sympathizers.

Stunningly, the FBI has arrested him on gun charges only, and has not charged his with terrorism in what appears to be a politically-motivated half-prosecution:

A terrorist-style plot intended to kill dozens of people with automatic weapons at a Masonic center in Milwaukee was foiled this week by FBI agents, federal prosecutors said Tuesday.

Samy Mohamed Hamzeh discussed his plan to attack the center with two others, detailing how they would quickly and quietly kill the first people they saw and then methodically move through the building, “eliminating everyone” they encountered, according to a federal criminal complaint.

Hamzeh, 23, has been charged with possessing a machine gun and a silencer. Despite indications of an attempted act of terrorism, Hamzeh is not charged with any terrorism counts.

“We are Muslims, defending Muslim religion, we are on our own, my dear, we have organized our own group,” Hamzeh said, according to the criminal complaint, adding he was confident it would trigger more attacks in the United States.

“Such operations will increase in America, when they hear about it. The people will be scared and the operations will increase, and there will be problems all over,… this will lead to people clashing with each other. This way we will be igniting it. I mean we are marching at the front of the war,” he said, according to the complaint.

Acting U.S. Attorney Gregory J. Haanstad called it a “detailed plan to commit a mass shooting intended to kill dozens of people.”

“(Hamzeh) also said that he wanted this mass shooting to be ‘known the world over’ and to ‘ignite’ broader clashes. It is difficult to calculate the injury and loss of life that was prevented by concerned citizens coming forward and by the tireless efforts of the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force.”

The “two others” cited in the article were FBI informants who presumably documented an iron-clad case before the FBI took Hamzeh into custody.

It is possible that the U.S. attorney will fill terrorism-related charges at a later time, but this story seems to be yet another attempt by the Obama Justice Department to minimize the threat of Islamic extremism, even as the President imports mostly military-aged male Syrian refugees into the United States by the thousands.

Sheriffs issue a call to arms: ‘Take advantage of your legal right to carry a firearm’

Sheriffs across the country have been calling their citizens “the first line of defense” against crime — a call to arms that some say is a new phenomenon following terrorist attacks at home and abroad.

A sheriff in Wisconsin wants “as many law-abiding citizens to arm themselves in this country as we can get.” One in New York state told people who are licensed to carry a gun to “please do so.” In Florida, one sheriff said: “I can tell you the probability of needing a firearm is remote, but it’s more important to have a gun in your hand than a cop on the phone.”

WASHINGTON GOVERNOR CALLS NRA, SUPPORTERS ‘DESTRUCTIVE FORCE’

The NRA-ILA has condemned Washington state Governor Jay Inslee after he called the NRA and its supporters a “destructive force” in a recent call to raise support for new gun control measures at home.

“Enough is enough,” said Inslee in his attack email. “Gun violence is a public health crisis in this country, and here in Washington state, we’re going to address this problem—right now.”

“Make no mistake, the NRA and their friends in the gun lobby are a powerful and destructive force,” said Inslee. “We must stand together to demand a reduction in preventable gun violence here in Washington state…That means standing up to the NRA and their high-powered friends.”

In response the NRA-ILA issued this statement saying “The Governor is using law-abiding gun owners as a scapegoat for his failure to provide any practical solutions that would deal with crime and mental health issues in the state of Washington. Current laws do not need to be ‘strengthened,’ but they do need to be enforced.”

Georgia Lawmaker - Democrats losing their minds! Want to cancel the 2nd amendment!!

GEORGIA LAWMAKERS INTRODUCE BILL TO BAN, SEIZE ‘ASSAULT WEAPONS’

Georgia Democrats have introduced legislation that would make the possession and sale of “assault weapons” and “large-capacity magazines” a felony offense that would necessitate seizure by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Georgia HB-731, sponsored by Democrats Mary Margaret Oliver, Carolyn Hugley, Pat Gardiner, Stacey Abrams, Dar’shun Kendrick and Dee Dawkins-Haiglerwas, was unveiled Jan. 11. On Oliver’s website the bill is touted as a “debate [that] Georgia needs…about these weapons which are only used for rapidly killing people. Assault weapons are not necessary for deer hunting.”

In addition to banning magazines that hold more than ten rounds and a laundry list of rifles, handguns, and shotguns, the bill conspires to prohibit “armor-piercing bullets, and incendiary .50 caliber bullets,” and to “provide for enhanced penalties for the possession and use of machine guns.”

While legislator seeking to ban scary-looking firearms and magazines that hold more than ten rounds in the name of public safety is nothing new, calling for outright seizure of such weapons is a bold move. Their aim is not to cut down on crime—no one uses .50 caliber incendiary rounds for petty theft—it is to criminalize gun ownership.

California - what can you say!!!

PROPOSED CALIFORNIA GUN CONTROL BILL TO BAN BULLET BUTTON

Attorney General Kamala D. Harris and Assemblyman David Chiu have introduced new legislation in California that would expand the Assault Weapons Control Act, or AWCA, to block the use of bullet buttons and severely restrict semi-automatic rifle ownership.

The proposed legislation would extend the ban to include all centerfire semi-automatic rifles that are capable of using a detachable magazine, even when the magazines require a tool to remove. Anyone already in possession of rifles with bullet buttons or other locks will have to register their firearms with the state as “assault weapons.” They’re calling it the “bullet button loophole.”

The text of the A.B. 1663 bill can be read here (.pdf) and A.B. 1664 is available here (.pdf).

The Attorney General’s office specifically seeks to ban “more technologically-advanced” rifles, arguing that these firearms pose a risk to the public, citing mass shootings.

The Freedom Watch has filed a lawsuit to fight the recent executive orders signed by the President to expand the background check system without Congressional approval. The lawsuit argues that the executive orders are outside of the scope of the President’s authority and circumvent Congress.

Israel Turns to Civilian Gun Carriers for “Lone Wolf” Terrorist Protection

The Jerusalem Post reports that the official Israeli response to the increase in “lone wolf” terror attacks is about the same as the de facto American one: more guns in civilian hands.

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan on Wednesday approved a number of measures to ease the requirements for firearm permits, as Israel copes with a wave of “lone wolf” terrorism.

“In recent weeks many citizens have helped the Israel Police subdue terrorists who carried out attacks,” he said.

“Citizens with firearms training are a multiplying force for the police in their fight against terrorism and therefore I will take measures to ease the restrictions at this time.”

There has been a marked shift in domestic concealed carry circles post-Paris and post-San Bernardino towards people tooling up for the sake of the community (as opposed to just individual self-defense).
